The Big 33!

To celebrate Cody turning 33, I planned a little early birthday party at Hey Day! Family Fun Center to play a nice game of laser tag. Sixteen of our good friends showed up to wish Cody a very Happy Birthday. We couldn't feel more blessed to have such a good community of friends to share in our life with us.

We first ate dinner together - pizza and drinks on me. Cody opened a few gifts.

We didn't have time to cut the cake or embarrass Cody with a celebratory song since we had to get checked in for our game. Thank goodness Emily saved the day by bringing chocolate chip cookies which were an easy fix for dessert. (Thank you, Emily!! You saved the party!)

If you haven't experienced laser tag, you are missing out. I'm a BIG fan. First, you are taken into the Briefing Room for the rules. Then assigned a number which is your vest. You are led to your team station to power up your vest and then it's game on. You start on opposite sides of this huge arena that is split level. It's also dark with the exception of some black lighting and emergency exits. There are barriers set up everywhere to hid behind, but your vest is lit up, so it's easy to detect the other team by their color lights. You have a laser gun which you just point and shoot to tag the other team. You run. You sweat. You laugh. You compete. It's a great cardio workout.

Then after the game, you get a print out of your personal scores. All 20 of us were enthralled at our personal stats - who tagged who the most, who had the best accuracy, who was the highest scorer...I tagged Emily a lot. She was too cute playing. She'd shriek every time I'd run up on her and then laugh. She made the game a lot of fun. (She did get me a bunch, too.)

There was a father and son who also played with us. The little boy's game name was Yoda. He was really good. I think his age and lack of height really helped him in the arena. Noah and Erin Allen were so frustrated with 'Yoda'. He tagged them a bunch!

The birthday boy's team whooped my team every time...I'm thinking for my birthday in July there will be a rematch...

So Happy 33rd Birthday, Cody!

I hope you enjoyed your party and get good use out of the new 3 Wood on the golf course!

Your son and wife love you very, very much.
