So this is what 'Home Sweet Home' looks like for the Goodnights. Our 2-year search for land and a home with an open floor plan is over. And to think I grew up right next door...
We knew this home was vacant, but it was out of our price range until one day Cody saw online that the price had been reduced. He called our friend and realtor, Zan. We jumped at the chance to go look. Almost immediately, Cody was sold. The home was built in 1984, so it needs a bit of TLC...actually a whole lotta TLC. But in true Goodnight form, we decided to bite off more than we can chew in this renovation. We're enlisting lots of help from friends who do renovations professionally. Up front, we plan to renovate the main part of the house - entry, kitchen, living and dining rooms as well as fix the roof and heat/air unit. Then do one room at a time as we go. We want to be as financially smart as possible through this little renovation adventure. We also plan to do what we want the first time so we aren't having any 'shoulda, woulda, coulda' thoughts later. We've been through a renovation before with our first home on Hollywood, so this isn't new to us. It's just a lot more square footage! We couldn't be more thrilled and overwhelmed all at the same time. Can you see the home's potential? We sure can. It's going to take a lot of work (mostly on Cody's part) and a lot of patience (mostly on my part), but the final result will be incredible.
