Snow Day #7 AND #8

Ugh! More snow! This time only brought 5 inches instead of the 12 inches last week. We were out three days last week and two this week. The record temperature for the state during this second snow storm was -31 degrees! Jay, Oklahoma received 25 inches of snow! I love being at home with my boys, but I'm so sick of snow. School was canceled Wednesday and Thursday of this week. (Tomorrow we go back which is good we don't miss another day, but it's a Friday. The dilemma will be getting my students to concentrate. I think that will be a battle I will not win, so I'll be revamping lesson plans bright and early in the morning...) I just want to have school so I can do my job and then enjoy a long summer. At this rate, I'll be teaching school into the beginning of June. We've been keeping busy, though. Here's what we've been up to:

Thinks he's such a big boy now that he drinks out of a cup with no lid...
Noah got ketchup on his pants at lunch, so while his Daddy and I cleaned up the dishes, he disappeared to his room. He returned chanting, "Tada!" He changed his pants all on his own! We have been working on dressing himself for the last week. He's doing so well! Now coordinating we need to work on...
We made our valentines for Noah's friends at school. The party was supposed to be today, but is pushed back to next week due to the snow.

Noah enjoys playing video games with his daddy as a nightly ritual before bedtime.

Noah is obsessed with this train paper he got with his trains for Christmas. He loves to look at it. He points on the trains he already has then points out the trains on his wish list. It's been read so many times we've had to tape it back together.

Daddy made the best bubbles! There were so many that they almost spilled out the sides of the tub!

I took Noah to Petsmart to rid us of cabin fever on Snow Day #8. We had a good time looking at the fish, rodents, kitty cats and reptiles. It was like a mini zoo adventure!

I've purchased a handful of games over these last 8 snow days. Toy Story "Fishing" game is the latest. I got it on clearance at Wal-Mart for just under $10! Instead of the colored fishies, it's the aliens and instead of the magnetic fishing poles...it's the Claw! Noah loves it. It's pretty fun to play. We take turns catching aliens.

Because of these snow days, I've been to Target and Walmart more in the last two weeks than I normally visit these stores. Upon shopping the clearance toy aisle at Wal-Mart, I discovered Boris, the T-Rex from Dinosaur Train on PBS. Noah has Boris who he got from Grandma and Grandpa Stoner for Christmas. Boris has traveled with us to friends' houses. Noah's buddies love Boris, so I was thrilled to find him on clearance for $15! What a steal of a deal! There are several three-year-old birthday parties coming up. Two of Noah's special buddies are getting Boris! We got Noah's Boris out; he's in the middle not in the box. The cool thing about these toys is that they talk to each other...no seriously, they do. There's five Dinosaur Train dinosaurs. What was funny about Boris was that he was talking to himself. One Boris would say, "Hi Boris!" and the other would say, "Hi Boris!" and then the final one would follow suit. Noah got so tickled that Boris was talking to himself. I'm not sure who is more thrilled to give Boris as a present-me or Noah?! I think ME!
So it's back to work tomorrow. Bon voyage, Snow. Please don't come back for another year...I'm not sure I can take much more of you. You sure are pretty to look at and make time for me to be with my boys, but cleaning up after you in the driveway, on our cars and at our job is a pain...
