So I guess you could say we got a lot of snow...To be accurate 11.8 inches fell on Tuesday, February 1st in the OKC metro area. That is record-setting snowfall for our great state! The previous amount of snow fallen in one day was 5.5 inches in 1913 according to the National Weather Service website. That's incredible! It's been utterly cold, too. I don't see how my Wisconsin family lives in this weather ALL THE TIME! It's just too cold! The high today was 10 degrees! Yikes! Needless to say, school has been out for the last two days and will be again tomorrow. I'll be in school all summer making up these snow days...The only bad thing about all of this is that Oklahoma really doesn't know how to operate in massive amounts of snow. This is normal to places like Wisconsin and Michigan...School is in session there. And it's not like Oklahoma officials didn't know this blizzard was coming. Despite us being stranded at home because the roads aren't safe, we have kept entertained.

Once we were up for the day, we took Noah to the door to look outside and see the snow. He immediately begged to go out and play in it. So we got right out in the snow after we bundled up. Noah was clothed in three layers to keep warm! We were only out for about ten minutes because the wind gusts were about 30 mph. It was too cold and too windy for Noah to be out too long. You can see the boys (and Rocky the flying dog) had fun playing in the snow. (By the way, isn't my husband incredibly handsome?? See above picture. I love this one.)

Noah's cheeks pinked up pretty quick, so coming inside was necessary. He did not want to come in. To keep this little boy occupied, we built a blanket tent in the living room. It was fun playing in it. We watched several movies, made homemade stew (which I ate it all because it was the best Cody has ever made), and played and played.
And then we emailed Nana (Cody's mom) for the snow ice cream recipe. Chocolate. Yum.

We all enjoyed the snow ice cream...complete with sprinkles on Noah's. It was super yummy.

Then again, right before dark, we got all bundled up for another 10 minutes of snow time. Just Mommy and Noah this time. Noah LOVES the snow. He is fearless stomping, running and diving into the 3 foot drifts. It was so cold, but so fun. Some of my best childhood memories are playing out in the snow. There is something so magical about it. Snow Day #1 was quite successful!
