Genius Baby

Noah has learned to wave "bye bye". It just might be the cutest thing alive. I simply beam each time he does it and he couldn't be more proud of himself. I think our kid is a genius...No really, he is. And here's the proof.

Evidence #1: Even though Cody says this isn't happening, I am invoking my right as mother who carried Noah in my belly for 9 months and 3 days to say that this IS, in fact, happening. Noah is saying "Ma Ma". He says it when he wants me to pick him up. He says it when he needs my attention for something. He says it when he's tired and wants to cuddle. He says it when he wants me to give him more food or his sippie. My son says my name and I love the sound of it. (Cody just walked in and scooped up our boy. Noah said "Ma Ma" and I turned to look and then he waved to me. So sweet!)

Evidence #2: Noah understands commands. During changing, especially. I will say "Arms up" and he will raise his arms to help take off his shirt. I will say "Hold on" and he will squeeze my neck as to not fall when I pull up or down his pants. In his moments of escape while his bare bottom is diaper-free, he will twist and turn as to crawl away, but I will say "Freeze" and he will turn back over and lay still while I fasten the straps of the new diaper. (Although he does give us a little lip at this point. He much prefers to be naked. I'm concerned the "lip" is starting so soon...Oh dear.) He will also hold his little feet out one at a time to help us as we put on his socks and shoes. During bath, Noah thinks it's funny to stand up in the tub. He is still in a smaller tub inside the actual tub. He begins to stand up and all I have to do is look at him or say "Uh Uh" and he sits right back down. He knows he isn't suppose to stand in the tub. It's dangerous!

Evidence #3: Noah shares. The other night during bath, Noah gave me his toys so I could play, too. He has foam letters that spell his name. He handed the N, the O, the A and the H to me one at a time. (Not in that order.) I say "Thank you" after each one and he would giggle his "You're welcome".

Evidence #4: Noah can't be out-smarted. I had the high school girls over for bible study. I had turned off his musical activity table to be discrete during the lesson, but still keep him entertained. (Cody was at the station, so I was flying solo.) He flipped the switch and started dancing to the music with this look on his face like "See Mom. You can't fool me." Ha. Apparently I can't.

Evidence #5: Noah walks with help. Ten and a half months old. He gets his walker and goes right after it power walking like there's no tomorrow. We were so eager for him to crawl (and to walk), but he is such a mess ever since. He is so curious and into discoveries. I vacuum all the time to keep lent and other things from his tiny grasp and mouth! The carpet seems to be a great place to find new things.

Evidence #6: Noah is obsessed with technology. Anything with a bright screen, lights and keys. I think he is the next Bill Gates. He is so intrigued by Daddy's laptop. He tries to pluck at the keys any chance he gets. So here he goes.....asz a r ugfdrur

What a joy it is raising a genius!
