THE HAPPIEST HALLOWEEN!
We had the best and spookiest Halloween this year! There were lots of things to do and parties to attend! And the weather was so wonderful this October! It made Trick-o-Treating much more enjoyable!
This year Noah decided to be "Wolverine" from the X-Men. Noah likes for Cody and me to dress up with him, so, of course, we had to be X-Men, too! Cody chose to be Scott Somers also known as "Cyclops" who shoots fire out of his eyes. I opted for Jean Grey who uses her mind to manipulate and control things. Jean is also the girlfriend of Cyclops, so I thought that was fitting we be a couple. (*wink) Noah's costume was, in his words, "easy peezy lemon squeezy". Ours, on the other hand, needed some creativity. I think I say this every year about female costumes, "Why do the costumes have to be so inappropriate and revealing?" I am a woman of God, a wife and mother. I much prefer to maintain my integrity while still participating in this holiday with my son. So...the best, most authentic X-Men costume I could find was Catwoman's (that covered me head to toe) with an X-Men belt buckle I found on Amazon (which I just safety-pinned to my costume). I found an X-Men t-shirt online for Cody to sport under a black leather jacket he borrowed from our friend, Clint. Then we found some red-tinted sunglasses to complete the "Cyclops" affect. It was perfect!
Noah was invited to Hank's Halloween party. We've become friends with Hank and his parents since T-ball this past spring. Hank had inflatables, games and lots of treats! It was so fun attending this party all dressed up for our first spooky event! Noah had lots of fun!

The whole gang at Hank's party. (Look at the toddler dressed as the old man from the movie Up!)
Before we left, Noah got in a few games of Eyeball Race. Instead of an egg balanced on the end of the spoon; it was an eyeball! What a clever, spooky twist to a traditional game!
Of course, we got our hands dirty carving a jack-o-lantern! Noah still doesn't like to get his hands all gooey, so I did most of the carving.
Our Jack turned out pretty great!
Noah has asked us since last year if he could have a Halloween party and invite all his friends over for games. So this year, we did.
It was really fun decorating and making the games! We made it much like a carnival. Score a point or get the ball in the hole and pick out a treat from the bucket! Each kid got a treat bag to collect their goodies. We served pizza and jack-o-lantern punch with an apple slice bar for dessert. Toppings included: Halloween-colored sprinkles, mini M&Ms, Heath bar chips, carmel and chocolate syrup to dip. Thanks to Pinterest, we created some cool games: Witch Pitch (toss the candy corn into the cauldron), Ghost Bowling (with toilet paper rolls as the ghosts and a pumpkin as the ball), Jack-o-Lantern Toss (toss the ball into the jacks' mouths), Spider Ring Toss and borrowed from Hank, Eyeball Race.
The Overlands (and Scott. Nice photo bomb)
Our friend, Jeremy, brought a real live tarantula that he caught in his back yard to the party. The kids were creeped out, but impressed.

The actual day of Halloween brought an all-school parade followed by a class party. We had so much fun!

Noah was in charge of juice boxes for the party. I turned them into mummies. Thanks, Pinterest.
A little spooky door decorating. The tree done by yours truly.
Trick-o-Treat night we hit up Crystal Lakes. With Halloween being on a school night, we only treated for an hour. We did have a delightful time with friends.

The best house we went to was the one with magic. The lady of the house invited us inside to help her cast a spell to make all the balloons that covered the room to move so we could get a 'treat'. The only catch was you couldn't touch a red balloon. They were like lava and would ruin the spell. Somehow, after the spell was cast, the balloons magically moved and opened a path straight to the candy bowl. It was pretty cool.

We hope your Halloween was more of a treat than a trick! We had a spooktacular time this Halloween!
