In September, Noah was nominated by his teacher, Mrs. Rowe, as a Terrific Kid. The word 'terrific' is an acronym for certain characteristics and qualities of a good student. T stands for 'thoughtful'. Noah is a very compassionate and thoughtful boy. He is always looking out for others and making sure his friends are taken care of. We aren't surprised he was nominated, but we sure are thrilled! This award is given by the Norman Kiwanis Club. Noah was recognized in front of the whole school for his thoughtful efforts! And his picture was in the Norman Transcript newspaper. We have such a special kid!
Getting a high five from Daddy after accepting his award.
Every year, Jackson puts on a jog-a-thon called the Tiger Trot. Students raise money for a few weeks asking for sponsorships for laps around the track. This is Jackson's biggest fundraiser. This year the focus is raising money for a new sound system. (I believe the sound system they use is the one they had when I was a Jackson tiger 25 years ago....Yikes. It IS time for a new one.) Money raised will also be used for library books and playground equipment.
Well I'm a girl who loves a good 'ole fundraiser. I'm a sucker for a good cause. Plus this was an opportunity for Noah to learn social skills, interact with adults and take some ownership and pride in his school. So we made a video and sent it to our long distant friends and family asking for pledges. $10 a lap. Then everywhere we went, Noah asked oh so thoughtfully for sponsorships.
And then the Tiger Trot was upon us...We asked $10 per lap, so Noah had 39 laps to 'jog'. We were in for a long, long run.

Noah got 'hooked up' with an ankle band to clock his time.

Stretch it out! Wake up those muscles!
And he's off! Noah completed 10 laps in 20 minutes.
The whole team. :)
Noah set a goal of $250 to get all the prizes he so desired by meeting said goal. The great news is Noah worked so hard that he exceeded his goal tremendously! He raised $391!! His class raised a little over $800. Noah did half of his class' total on his own. What a hardworking little fundraiser we have! (He gets that from me...) So the class had a popsicles and pjs party. Noah was invited to a special pizza party during lunch for being a top raiser. He is invited to a special skating party at Star Skate and he got a pair of school spirit socks and a Jackson Tiger beanie for accomplishing his goal.
So proud of our compassionate, thoughtful, dedicated Jackson Tiger. Noah is the best!
