A Day at the Fair

My mom and I took Noah to the Cleveland County Fair this year.  Last year we had such a nice time that we knew this would be an annual visit every year.  Unfortunately Cody's work schedule has made him miss it both years.  Hopefully next year he can join us!  The county fair is so much better than the state fair!  The crowd is small.  Same food.  Shorter lines. Less carny folks.  More kiddie rides.  Less expensive.  Easier parking.  I could go on.

Mimi bought about $20 worth of tickets for Noahbear and off we went to ride the rides.  First stop, the Ferris wheel.  Mimi is scared of heights, but Noah was insistent all three of us ride together.  Mimi freaked out a bit and kept snapping at Noah and I to NOT rock the cart.  She was way nervous.  I kinda have a little fear as well.  In an effort to not project that fear onto my son, I was kind in asking Mimi to breathe, just breathe.

Noah spotted the kiddie roller coaster.  He LOVED this one!  He smiled and had his hands up the whole time!  I think I've got a dare devil on my hands!  This is good.  He can ride the really scary rides with his daddy at Six Flags in the future.  Mommy will watch from the ground.

Noah and I took a ride on some flying side-winder thing.  We went up and down and spun around.  The seat belt was one giant belt, so the force of the ride caused Noah and I to slide together.  It was a good time to cuddle.

Inside the barns among all the goats, pigs and chickens to be shown is a little petting zoo of baby farm animals.  Noah held a little duck that fluttered right out of his hands onto the floor.  I held a piglet that squealed and squealed and promptly bit me.  Ouch!

Of course, we made our rounds on the carousel where I got a smooch from my sweet boy.

We round the infamous strawberries.  Noah told me he wanted to get "silly dizzy", so Mommy did her best to spin us fast!!!  Can you see our faces above?  We were "silly dizzy"!!

Noah wanted to ride the kiddie ship.  (I can't stand the one at Frontier City.)  I do not want to project any of my fears or limit his adventurous behavior, as long as it isn't dangerous, so I encouraged him to get on.  He liked it, but got nervous once the ship got going really high.  His little arms weren't long enough to reach the bar to hang on, so the older girl next to him held on to him so he wouldn't be afraid.  The boy next to Noah kept yelling, "I want off!  I want off!"  Noah didn't say much, but you could see it in his face that he wasn't so sure riding the ship was such a good idea after all.

Look how high that it!!  Ah!

Then he had enough tickets for one more ride.  He chose the kiddie coaster.  The second time around Noah got in a cart with a little boy who wouldn't keep the shared seat belt fastened.  Noah wasn't having any of that, so he made a scene by standing up, crying a little and tattling on the boy for not keeping the belt fastened.  That little boy had to get off the ride.  I can't blame Noah.  He just wanted to be safe!!!  A cute little girl rode with Noah instead.

My boy and I had a great time together and with Mimi.  We are looking forward to the fair next year.
