Legos Will Soon Be Coming Out My Eyes,,,

With my new job, I have Fridays off.  So for my first Friday off, Noah and I made a trip to Penn Square Mall in OKC after our weekly visit with Great Papa.  I told Noah I was taking him to a new place and it would be a BIG surprise.  He was so excited all day to find out what it was!

Let me back up for a minute.  Noah is beginning to get into Legos.  I'm so hesitate because of all the little pieces that accompany Legos.  I'm very Type A, so things MUST be organized and together in his playroom or I'm just not okay with it!  So I've planned ahead for how to organize, separate and store his Legos.  (Yes, I already have bins labeled and in his room.)  I don't think the Lord has blessed me with the gift of prophecy, but I foresee a Christmas of Legos this year...

Noah has started his enjoyment of Legos from two places: 1.) from Preschool because they have a Lego table for centers and 2.) from the game Lego Batman for PlayStation 3 that Daddy bought for him.  (He's so stinkin' good at the game.  There's parts I don't even know how to do and my four-year-old does!)

So we get to the Lego store and I say, "Okay, Noah, this is your surprise!  It's a store of just Legos."

And he says as we are standing in the entrance, " Oh. My. Gosh.  Mom.  Punch me in the face."

I asked him why he would want me to do that.

He replies, "I can't believe what I'm seeing."

And then he took off in the store.  His eyes were about to pop out of his little head as they danced from row to row to row and display to display to display of all things Lego.  Of course, he spotted the Lego Batman stuff right way.  (It's on the Christmas list, Santa.)

At the back of the store are open containers of Lego pieces sorted by color.  These can be purchased individually.  Nice to know I can go to just a few pieces when some come up missing at home.

In the center of the store is a "Build Your Own Mini" station.  You can create your own mini Lego person.  You can choose to have spiky hair or long braids.  You can choose crazy eyes or a nice smile.  Add a beard if you like.  You can have a witch hat or a Pharaoh's crown.  You can make a boy mini or a girl.  You can even have your mini carry a sword or a cup of Joe!  We spent quite some time creating our minis...It was pretty neat to get creative with Noah.  We made a scary robot, a villain and of course, a good guy to save the day.  Our good guy was half sailor, half businessman.  I'm not sure what that means...

Noah made about three laps around the store looking in all the displays.  (The marketing of this store is genius because everything is at a child's eye level.)  Noah finally settled on two Hero Factory robots because they look like Transformers.  We had to get two so they can fight, duh!

We had a good time putting his new Legos together then fighting each other once we got home.

If you have any tips on how to keep Legos organized, please let me know.  I think Legos will be coming out of my eyes very, very soon...
