We had an exciting opportunity this football season to take Noahbear to his FIRST OU game! My dad gave us his tickets and we got a spare from my dad's friend, Monte, who has seats right next to my dad, so we all three headed to Gaylord Memorial Stadium to watch the Sooners play a little ball.
Of course, we've been brainwashing Noah to be 'Sooner born, Sooner bred' since he was in diapers, but there's nothing like experiencing Sooner tradition firsthand. I think going to the game has really pushed Noah over the edge. He says, "I just want to be a Sooner when I grow up."
We got there early to do a little tailgating with our friends, the Allens and the Barnetts. Noah played a little bit of catch with Cash Allen, who is two years old. They had a great time. We booked it over to the Sooner Club's tailgate to grab a free hot dog and drink before the game.
Our seats were in the upper deck. It was quite a hike for the little man. He was super impressed with the Ruf Neks because "they have guns, Momma". Noah loved the atmosphere and holding up his finger for '#1'. It was great sharing in the tradition with my son, teaching him about the Schooner and the horses, talking about the Pride of Oklahoma and what it means to sing the National Anthem before a game. We made it to half time before the little guy was ready to go home. It was a great experience for our family!! And I can't wait to go again. Boomer Sooner!!
