Our Fall Break

I recently had two and half days off school plus the weekend. It was Fall Break. For one of the days off, I took Noah and Mimi to the OKC Zoo to visit the animals. It was one of the last warm days, so we jumped at the chance to go.

First stop was the Children's Zoo to feed the Larakeets. Noah was excited to feed the birds nectar. It took some coaxing to get him to hold a bird on his arm, but he did it! Then he wanted to keep holding them. That was soon over when a bird nibbled - or pinched as Noah says - his arm. He was done after that. I was glad none of them pooped on my head like they did last time! Then we played on the Children's playground for a while - racing down the slide. Noah won every time.Next we walked to the snake house - Mommy's favorite. Not. On our way there, Noah stopped to peak through the fence. He started hollering, "Momma come see!". So I look through the hole and see ducks. He's telling me there a flamingo, but I'm telling him there's not. "It's just a duck, buddy." He's standing strong. So I keep looking, changing my angle. Then I see this pretty pink bird. "Oh, I see the flamingo, Noah." And he looks at me, smiles then says, "See I told you." Funny. We stopped in to see the giant tortoises. Then off to see the deer for Daddy and the bats in the Oklahoma Trails.

What a silly 'ole bear!! This bear stood on its hind legs going after something in the trees. At one point it was standing on only one foot!

Then we headed to gymnastics for our usual Thursday night activity. Noah decided not to move up to the three-year-old class this semester. He's not quite ready to be without Mommy. So that means that Noah and Kynlee are the in the SAME class this year. They are two peas in a pod. They practically mawl each other upon greeting. Such big hugs and excited smiles to do gymnastics together. Abby and I like it, too, because it gives us time to talk and visit while our kids learn.

It was nice to be off work for a well. I really needed a break. Now I'm counting down the days for Thanksgiving. Oh the perks of being a teacher. :)
