The first two soccer games were tough for Noah. We've taught him his whole little life to share, no if, ands or buts, but in soccer, we don't share. We've coached him if someone takes the ball from you, you take it right back with your feet. Noah would get so upset and start crying midfield when the ball was taken away. It was just pitiful and confusing for him. So Cody told him to just get out there and push kids out of his way. "Just get the ball." So Noah took his daddy at his word...literally. First quarter our sweet, precious Noahbear turned into the Soccer Bully. He was heaving and shoving left and right. Knocking kids down. He'd holler, "That's my ball!", furrow his brow and go after the ball. We were laughing, but always hollering for Noah to stop being rough. So during the first time out (water break), Cody had to re-teach Noah the idea of defensive play, but still playing fair. So instead, Noah softened his pushing to 'Iron Man-ing'. Well that's what we call it at home. Noah sticks out his fist and then opens his hand to a 'five' while making a firing sound just like Iron Man does. The 'Iron Man-ing' really helped Noah not cry. He still felt 'tough'. Although we'll probably have to teach Noah about fouling in the near future...
Warming up.
