Pull-Ups, A Penny and Plenty of Parties

It's officially summer in the Goodnight household. It's been a whirlwind to get here with summer testing, finalizing grades and closing up Mrs. Goodnight's classroom for another year - five to be exact. We can't wait to get on with the summer fun!

The first bit of summer fun has been potty training. Well, it isn't exactly "fun". Noah is officially in Pull-ups. If we stay on top of him, he will not have an accident. He tells us when he has to use the potty now which is great - in public or at home. He gets busy playing and that's when accidents happen. He is doing great - so great, in fact, he's pooping money! Noah likes to pour out our change bank and re-deposit the coins back in to it. He was tempted to taste that yummy metal of a cooper penny and Oops! He swallowed it! Thank goodness Cody was home. (He's calmer than I am in stressful situations.) It really scared me and Noah, too, but after four days the penny finally came out.

Party #1: Great Papa turned 78 on May 19th! We took him out to Johnny Carino's Italian Kitchen for a birthday dinner. It was a great meal. Afterward, we hung out in the backyard where Noah had his first experience with a couple of toads! Daddy picked up the toads (because Mommy thinks it's gross) and Noah inspected the toads up close. He would say, "Oh baby toad". and then tickle the toads' feet. Once the toads were back on the ground, Noah would reach out with his pointer finger to touch the toads' backs. He was a little hesitate. On first contact, one toad jumped away which scared and delighted Noah all at once that he let out this little shriek/giggle! Now, Noah hops around the house croaking, "Ribbit ribbit".

Party #2: Swim date with "Baby" Kynlee. On Mommy's first official day of summer, her best friend, Abby, and 11 month old daughter Kynlee, Noah's "baby", came to swim. Kynlee pretty much hated it the whole time. Either the water was too cold or she was just too tired. Noah had a ball, though. He's a little frog. He absolutely LOVES the water.

Party #3: One of our favorite babysitters, Kendall, graduated from Norman North High School. Her parents hosted an open house this past weekend. We stopped by to congratulate her and persuade her to stay. She is headed to NYU in August where she will study to be an amazing Hollywood director some day. She has a great eye for film. We will miss her greatly.

We can't wait for more summer parties! We have a lot planned. In the meantime, Noah is learning and exploring EVERYTHING! He knows his daddy's name is "Co-tee". His momma's name is "As-in". Mimi's name is "Dane" and his name is "Noah". You ask him, "What is the opposite of open?" and he says, "close". He's obsessed with the Nike swoosh and spotting OU logos. When we are in the car, he gets so excited spotting everything from very tiny airplanes in the sky to a school bus several yards away. He has incredible eye sight! He really likes dinosaurs and dragons right now. He is getting pretty good at recognizing colors by name as well as spelling his name. It is fascinating watching him learn. He is ornery and sweet - completely all boy.
