Graduation and Gotcha!

Our niece, Shelby, graduated from Bowlegs High School on Friday, May 21st. We attended her commencement ceremony in the Bowlegs gym. Before the ceremony started, Cody whispered to me that he was at the hospital the day she was born. We can't believe she's off to college already. She will attend Seminole State (where she received a full ride!) and then transfer to East Central to finish up her degree in nursing. We are thrilled for her beginning this new chapter.
We could not be prouder of you, Shelby Lynn!
A girl sent from Heaven
A sister to call "mine"
Though not of Mom and Dad's creation
But sister by God's design.
With great joy Gene and Linda Goodnight,
Cody's parents, announce the adoption of their daughter...
It's official! Cody has a baby sister!

Sunday afternoon was Maria's "Gotcha" party to celebrate her officially being a Goodnight. Why she wants to be adopted into this crazy family, I'll never know. ;) No, actually I do. The Goodnight family is one of the reasons I wanted to marry Cody. Though they are crazy, loud and obnoxious, any one of them would drop everything to help, drive miles to visit and give the shirt off their back if you needed it. They are the most loving and protective people I know.

The "Gotcha" party was awesome. Lots of people attended to celebrate Maria. We stuffed our faces with that hot pink zebra cake from Johnnie's Sweet Creations. So yummy. Our niece, Lexi, made a wonderful video of pictures telling Maria's journey to get here. It was perfect. Though it was a humid day, the kids played soccer, swung and jumped on the trampoline.

Several of Maria's friends from school, swimming class and softball came to celebrate her, too! They all played soccer in knee-high grass out in the pasture! Very fun group of girls.
Maria is now the youngest of seven. We couldn't be more excited to have her in our family.
In the words of Brooks and Dunn, "My Maria. Maria I love you."
