We hit the Mega, una supermercado (grocery store), first to stock up on food for the week. Dining out three times a day is too expensive. Every day we laid out by the beach or pool, worked on our tans, read, napped and relaxed. One day we finally decided to do something so we headed to Medano Beach and rented kayaks. We paddled out to the Arch at Land's End to see the harem of sea lions basking in the sun. That was so cool. We've never seen sea lions in the wild. We beached at Lover's Beach for a while to play. The tide is pretty serious all along Cabo. As I was climbing out of the kayak, the tide came in. The boat knocked me in the leg. So I got my first battle wound. A huge shiner on my knee and calf - a nice blue and purple. The rocks separate clearing a bath to walk from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific Ocean side of the Baja Peninsula. It was pretty cool to be able to walk to two large bodies of water. It was tricky to get back on the kayak. The tide kept knocking us over! Once we got going, we saw a lone sea lion swimming in the channel. He would pop his head out of the water and make his sea lion sound before going back under. Really cool.
Since we built up some momentum of getting out to do things, the guys decided to play golf at Cabo Real while I was treated to a massage at The Spa. It was amazing. The rich know how to get treated at a spa. A tiny Mexican woman met me after check-in with an umbrella and a shot of detoxing fruit juice. She held the umbrella over me so I didn't have to walk in the sun. Then I was given a mint towel to wash my hands and face. I had my own locker to place my clothing in and changed into a plush white robe and cushiony sandals. I was early so they let me relax in my choice of sauna, hot tub or infinity pool. I chose sauna. Then off to see Senora Flora for an hour. She first cleaned/detoxed my feet with this mint scrub before working out all the kinks in my muscles. It was heaven. Afterward, I was greeted with a glass of tea before I changed back into my clothes. Another lady who comes to this place often was changing into her robe and complained to me how she didn't like that the spa was so tiny. I thought, "Lady, you are so spoiled. You don't even know this is luxury!"
We ended the week with a night out on the town to Maro's Shrimp House. Lobster and shrimp under $20! So yummy. There were some noisy frat boys there. Doug was one of the 'friendly' ones. Nice guy, though, with a lot of hair. Cody made the funniest comment of the trip. Cody and Kegan complain a lot because they think they have receding hairlines. Cody leans over and says, 'Doug stole our hairline!'
We picked up a real child's guitar for Noahbear as his little souvernir. We skyped with Mimi almost every day so we could see Noah. He was missing us by the end. The trip would have really been perfect if our little man had been with us. Next time, we will rent a car. Taxis get expensive.
It was a great, great trip! A little hard to come back to reality. We can't wait to do it again. Thanks, Mike, for EVERYTHING! Thanks, Katie and Kegan for inviting us! We had an incredible time!
