23 months old

I can not believe Noah will be two in less than a month. Time has really flown by!

As we gear up for another birthday, I caught myself reflecting on how much Noah has changed. His mind is like a sponge. He remembers things immediately! Like on Wednesday I said "okay" in response to a warning and he replied "okay". He's never said "okay"before! And last night at dinner, he said "dots" referring to his placemat with dots on it.

He is so ornery that warnings are a necessity now. Cody and I have use our mean, serious voices sometimes to really get Noah to listen. He doesn't listen on purpose sometimes-trying to test our patience and follow-through.

Noah's vocabulary is blossoming. Just this he picked up "home", "help", "dots" and "okay". He's forming fragment sentences like "more apple juice" and"up please".

He's reading, well because the book is memorized we've read it so many times, on his own. He jumps into the big recliner and reads the pages back. I know what page he's on because he'll either act it out or say a few words from the story like "googoo goggles" from Dr. Seuss' ABC book.

Animals noises are a favorite. Howling like a wolf and the "oo oo ah ah" of a monkey are the best. When a dog is barking outside, he says "puppy" and starts yapping. He adores our female Jack Russell, Addie. He calls her and gets to to lay down so he can rub her belly.

He is such a ham. He is content and happy pretty much all the time.

He is a finicky eater, though. He eats about one good meal a day and snacks the rest. At first we were worried, but part of the terrible twos is lack of eating. Noah can control his eating, so often times he doesn't eat. We present healthy choices at meals in small portions and offer healthy snacks throughout the day. He is going to be very independent!!

He loves puzzles-the wooden kind with pegs. He is so good at them that he doesn't really need our help at all. He can recognize by name in any order about half the alphabet-O, Q, T, Z, B, M, A, G, S, N, C and P. We are working on colors. Blue and black are coming along first. Numbers 2 and 8 are recognizable.

Anything fire is automatically associated with Daddy. He adores Daddy. They wrestle and do "manly" things. They are bonded like super glue.

Noah is outgoing, stubborn and all boy. He loves wearing hats for fun or play.

Noah folds his hands during prayer each night. We kiss Daddy's picture on nights he's at the station. Noah closes his prayer with a sweet "Amen". He loves baby Jesus on our manger scene music box. His sweet childish faith is breathtaking. My favorite word he says is"Jesus". There is desperation, excitement, want and joy all wrapped up inside that one word, that one name Noah says. He truly is a remarkable kid. A tremendous gift from God on loan. We know he belongs to Jesus and we are ever so lucky to be his earthly parents and watch him grow.
