Hillsong, School and Many New Words

The Goodnight household is busy adjusting to a new schedule with me being back to work for another school year. School has been crazy - getting my students into a routine, turning off "summer" brain and transforming into teacher mode.

For my mom's birthday (last Wednesday), I took her to a Hillsong United concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was an amazing worship experience. Hundreds of people with their hands raised to worship a reverent and good God. It was incredibly moving. It made for a very late night, on a school night, too, but SO worth it.

We headed for Tulsa, a two-hour drive, once I got out of school at three o'clock. Noah was going to be dropped off in Stillwater with my sister, Kristin, for the evening since Cody was at the fire station. The concert started at 7:30 pm. We had plenty of time to get to our destination, but little did we know the road we needed in Tulsa was closed and a detour was set up. My GPS didn't register the detour, so we got lost both times - getting to the concert and then coming home. It lengthened our trip by 40 minutes roundtrip. Mom and I just giggled away the frustration.

Hillsong is a worship team and church out of Australia. They are revolutionary for their worship music sung internationally in so many churches. They are innovative and really have a passion for the Kingdom. It was an honor to worship with them.

The Goodnight boys are great. Cody fought a tractor and round hay bale fire Monday, which was exciting for a change, but made for a sleepless night. He's back into the swing of things being stay-at-home Dad on his days off.

Noah is so fun. He is almost 18 months old. He is practically running (fast walking) around the house and yard. He wants to be naked and outside all the time. He is into everything. Our house looks like a tornado hit with all the toys and odds and ends thrown about. His verbal skills have really improved in the last week. He says nearly 50 words, in his way. Just a few are "cat" with a very distinct "T", "Daddy" or "Dada", "Mommy" or "Mama", "backpack, backpack" and "map" from Dora the Explorer, "tire" and "car" minus the "r" in a very southern accent, "please" more like "peace", "no" laidback like "naw", "Addie" as in our female dog, "Artie" as in his uncle, "Papa" for Papa John, Papa Gene and Great Papa, "Mimi" for my mom, "Nana" for Cody's mom, "trash" or "tash", "eyes", "awg" for "dog", "uck, uck" for "duck"...I could go on. He's so clever. He is repeating almost everything we say. It might not be clear, but the sound is there. We'll have to start watching what we say soon. His little life is going by so fast.
