A Day at the Zoo

Thursday morning Cody and I decided to take Noah to the Oklahoma City Zoo for the first time. So we loaded up the stroller with snacks, juice and the camera for a fun-filled day.

First stop was the aviary. Noah is obsessed with ducks. We knew he would love this. He about jumped out of the stroller when he saw the little ducks swimming in the pond. "Uck uck" was the joyous sound coming from Noah's little lips.
Next was the aquatics exhibit. First stop was the sea lions (there's one just under Cody's hand in the picture above).
Noah loved looking at the brightly colored fish. "Ish ish" he said pointing to every type as they swam by his little face. His eyes were glued to the glass.

Daddy is pointing out Nemo, a clown fish, hiding in the anemone. We stopped to feed the ducks swimming outside.

We walked through the Oklahoma Trails exhibit which featured all kinds of animals native to our state - cougars, coyotes, foxes, Mexican grey wolves, red badgers, prairie dogs, buffalo, elk, turkey, deer, grizzly bears and black bears...One part of the exhibit is a barn that features night animals. It is pitch black when you walk in. Then you go into a room with cages lit by black lights. There are millions of bats flying around! There are owls, rats, opossums, squirrels, skunks, all kinds of night animals. Very cool.

Noah liked standing at the giant bass fish tank. The information boards were just his height, too.

The last part of the Oklahoma Trails was an alligator park. Noah was in awe of these giant lizards! You can see one sleeping in the upper right hand corner of the picture.

Then we went to see the rhinos and hippos.
Off to the Big Cat exhibit. A lioness is to the right on the hill in the picture above. She was very majestic perched on her hilltop.

It was awesome watching the lions fight over bones. Hearing their roars and growls sent chills down our spines.

It started pouring while we watched a giant tiger, so we took shelter in the Cat house and waited for the rain to pass. We were very wet.

It was a really great day. Good family time. We can't wait to take Noah back!
