Just the Two of Us

Cody and I got away this weekend just the two of us. We've been planning this for months - to see Dane Cook's (our favorite comedian) latest stand-up routine Isolated Incident in Tulsa. Dane Cook is highly inappropriate, but absolutely hilarious. He is a great story teller about real life dilemmas. He tells it with such honesty that it's hard not to die laughing. Cody booked us a night at the Hyatt Place - a fabulous new and trendy hotel.

The pillows were so soft and fluffy that I wanted to put one in our suitcase for keeps.

Cody hooked up to the complimentary WiFi to check routes to the show and what restaurants were around us.

A cute little sitting area with a HUGE flat screen tv...We also wanted to take this home. For dinner we headed to Shogun, a Japanese hibachi restaurant. They continually bring you food. First we started with egg drop soup and drinks. Then a salad. The chef came to prepare our food on the large grill in front of us. Our chef really impressed us with his ability to sling around the sharp knives and dice, chop and mince our food to pieces! He lit things on fire which really held our attention! He made us loads of vegetables and fried rice and then our actual food. I had seasame chicken and Cody ordered the shrimp and filet migon. The filet was so tender and juicy you didn't even need a butter knife to cut it. With our bellies full, we headed to the BOK Center to laugh until our sides hurt.

Our tickets were so close - center stage, second row. We could have high fived with Dane if we wanted to. It was great to spend time together and be silly. I don't think we have laughed that hard in a long time. It was 2 full hours of nothing, but tear streaking laughter. It was great. The next morning as we were getting around, I received a text message our friends, Rob and Heather who live in Tulsa, were at the hospital having their baby girl, Ellison Kate. We thought, "What perfect timing!". We grabbed a bite to eat at good 'ole Chilli's then headed to the Woodland Hills mall to kill some time. We spent more money on Noah then we did on ourselves! (Noah is wearing his new ball cap below). It was a blessing to get to see Baby Ellie. She is an absolute doll face and the proud parents looked very anxious to raise this little one. She is born into a family of love. It was great to see the beaming grandparents, too! We were excited to be a part of that special day.

Noah is such a ham. We headed back to Seminole to pick him up from Nana and Papa's house. We met them at the Seminole Splash Pad. Noah is so lucky to have grandparents who devoted time and energy in playing with him. I am blessed they pour so much love into my little boy.
