Walking Tall

Big milestone was reached in the Goodnight Household today. Noah walked!!

Both Cody and I worked today (Cody is still at the fire station as I write this.) so my mom (Mimi) kept Noah.

When I walked into her house to pick up Noah after school, they were walking down the hall. Mimi was holding Noah's hands to help him balance. I bent down, stretched my arms out to offer a hug and said, "Come here, Noahbear". He unlatched from Mimi and took three well-balanced strides into my arms!

I screeched with excitement. We jumped up and down shouting, "Yay Noah!" over and over. He was so tickled with himself. He grinned from ear to ear. We gave high fives all around.

I continued to coax him, setting him back down to try again. He's still not 100%, but did take three more strides at one point and then his longest for seven strides as I scooted backward.

He has learned if he just lunges forward into my arms, I will catch him. So he just lunges or gives up by bending his knees.

I was so thrilled we called Daddy to share the good news.

On the way home, we stopped by the fire station for a quick show-off of our new skill. Noah wouldn't walk to Daddy. Only me. He took a couple of good strides, but it's tough concentrating at the fire station because of all the new things to look at!

I must give props to my friends Tiffany and Abby. Noah and I spent this past weekend with them at Abby's house in Shreveport, Louisiana. The girls made Noah walk everywhere - in the park, on the sidewalk, around the living room and kitchen, down the driveway. I think Noah's extra practice really paid off.

Our son is official a toddler...Life is about to get really busy.
