This was not an ordinary Saturday for me. My best friend, Abby, called earlier in the week and invited me to go with her mother-in-law, Gaylynn, and her to a Wine and Palette party. You paint while you enjoy beverages and food. I'd never done anything like this before, so I agreed! It would be a good chance to hang out with Abby and do something new.
The painting party was at Bolero, a Spanish cuisine restaurant in Bricktown. When we arrived two long tables with blank white canvas resting on easels with palettes of paint underneath were waiting for us. It was very intimidating for me considering I am not an artist! I repeat, I am NOT an artist! We got settled quickly, ordered some empanadas and papa fritas (french fries) and drinks. Then "class" began. Tiffanie, our art teacher, instructed us on how to paint, shade blend waves of colors, which is the name of our painting. Chloe was our paint fairy. She would bring us paint whenever we would run out. Chloe was a former student of mine a few years ago. She's now a senior at Westmoore. That was nice to see her again.

Randa, from church, sat down next to me without knowing she was next to me. She was turned around, but I knew from the back of her head that it was her! I tapped her on the shoulder and she turned around with this look on her face like, "Who in the world is in my personal space?!" When she realized it was me, we both screamed with excitement like two school girls. It was really funny! We had such a great time. Randa, of course, beats to her own drum, so she didn't follow the color rules. Her painting turned out pretty great, though!

There is something so very therapeutic about painting. I'm not the best at blending and shading and my painting looks NOTHING like how it should...BUT I had a really, really nice time. I can't wait to do it again soon! I plan on taking my mom for Mother's Day and Cody for a date night.
