Treasuring Fall Thanks to Pinterest

Have you heard about Pinterest.com? Well, if you haven't, you need to check it out. But be forewarned. It is highly addictive. However, so great for kid crafts!! Noah and I have had a good time creating some of the fall ideas we've found on the website to decorate our home for this spooky season.Milk Carton Ghosts: Clean an emptied milk carton - gallon or half gallon size doesn't matter. Then with a black Sharpie, draw a spooky or silly face on one side of the carton. Let your children color in the face. This is good practice for their fine motor skills. On the side opposite of the face, cut a small square. Thread a strand of twinkly lights inside the carton and set on your porch. Be sure to plug it in for the glow! We used an emptied Mountain Dew bottle to make a Frankenstein, complete with screws poke into the cheeks. We used one strand of twinkly lights for all three - two ghosts and Franky.
We also used plastic eyes, ears, noses and mouths -a lot like Mr. Potato Head features - to make silly pumpkins. This was not a Pinterest idea. I found the kit at a grocery store in Wisconsin during our trip at the beginning of October. Such a cute idea! The parts can be changed around and used year after year. Noah had a great time designing the silly faces.
Pumpkin Puffs: This might be the best pumpkin cookie recipe ever because it's so easy to do! This was a great Pinterest find! All you do is take a can of pumpkin and a box of cake mix - either spice or white cake mix. Pour the pumpkin and cake mix in a bowl. Mix up until the mix is moist. Using a spoon, blob cookies onto a greased baking sheet. The dough is very sticky, so do your best in making the blobs round. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes. The dough will puff up. Let the puffs cool. You can top with powdered sugar or eat plain. Cody and I love cream cheese icing so I made some from scratch using his mom's recipe. I iced the puffs then sprinkled pumpkin spice on top for added flavor and color. These puffs are so incredibly moist even days after you make them - if you have any left after a day. You should try it! It's a perfect dessert for this time of year! Happy Fall!
