Our Busy Three

Noah is getting so big. Cody and I are constantly surprised by how quickly he has grown. We no longer have a baby, or even a toddler. We have a little boy. He is nearly 40 inches tall and weighs nearly that in pounds. He still loves being outdoors, visiting animals and to sit and read, but he'll listen to longer books at bedtime now. He is asking questions and making inferences about the plot of a story and using the pictures to comprehend what is happening. (Of course, he would. His mom is a reading teacher!) Right now, he loves all things CARS (as in Lightning McQueen-and has a small collection of cars that Mimi and I are enabling.), rocket ships, Kung Fu Panda, dinosaurs and space. He is discovering beginning subtraction in small numbers 1-5 on his hands. He has been writing his name since May which looks like H-O-H-H, but he will tell you the correct letters and add the 'G' on the end for 'Goodnight'. He can also spell 'TOYS' from one of his favorite books Too Many Toys by David Shannon. He will spell out other sight words and ask you what it says. We have an early reader on our hands! Swimming lessons paid off because he can swim alone with just a floatie. Pool time is much more enjoyable for us since he can be more independent. He is 100% all boy. He is rough and loves to wrestle, but he still has a sweet temperament. He still loves going to the zoo. He said the other day when Cody took him, "The giraffe looks like a brachiasaurus or diplodocus, Daddy, because it has a long neck!" Brilliant child. Making connections to things he's learned. He tends to be very cognisant of the world around him - asking about others when they are hurt or sad, respecting other people's property and nature. He is very hospitable, too, when his friends come to play. He is quick to share his toys. He is very anxious for Halloween and Christmas to come. Those holidays must have made an impression on him in the past years. He plans ahead - especially when it's for his Halloween costume or his 4th birthday. He already knows what he wants. He has a sharp memory. The other day we looked at a photo of my Mima who has been with Jesus for two years almost. He said, 'That's my grandma. She lives in Jesus' big house." Sweet. Noah hadn't seen that picture in months, but he remembered. That blessed me. He has wonderful manners. (We are pretty hard on him to use them.)He holds doors open for strangers at stores. Without being prompted, he said, "Thank you, Daddy, for taking me to the zoo today." Noah is a wonderful son. Cody and I are infinitely blessed by him and so luckily to get to be his earthly parents.
