There is Victory (and Fun) in Jesus!

Spring has been filled with lots of mischief and fun with Noah being three. He is old enough now to begin to understand what Easter is really all about. Yes, it's fun to hunt eggs and anxiously wait for the Easter bunny to fill his basket, but it's important to Cody and me to teach Noah all about Jesus' humbling and amazing sacrifice. So we read kid-friendly books before bed each night telling about Jesus' victory. Now if you ask Noah what Jesus did for him, he will tell you, "He died on the cross for me." Then ask him why did Jesus die for him and he will tell you, "Because Jesus wants me to be a happy boy; not a bad boy anymore." Isn't it sweet to see his interpretation of what salvation means? He will also tell you that Jesus rose and now lives in the clouds with God.

Noah is also a little evangelist. He asked his Mimi the other day while in the bathroom if she loved Jesus and God. (He was asking about her salvation!) Mimi, of course, said yes. Noah replied, "Well that's good because I love them too." Noah has an amazing purpose. I can just feel it. He's so Kingdom-minded already!

Teaching Noah about Jesus' death and resurrection was definitely the most important thing we taught Noah this Easter season, but we've had a little bit of fun, too! Noah's cousin Kade sold Cody his four-wheeler that he had grown out of. Kade took some time deciding on the right sale price before agreeing to let Cody purchase this beloved ATV. Kade's daddy, Travis, told Kade that Noah was rich. So Kade asked if Noah had two ten dollar bills because to a six-year-old two tens is A LOT of cash! It was so sweet hearing about Kade's money decisions. He finally settled on $25 so Cody gave Kade a ten dollar bill, two five dollar bills and five ones. Kade is loaded now!! And Noah adores his cousin's four-wheeler. It's been an adventure watching Noah drive it.

Other Easter fun was the egg hunt that Journey Church put on at Kennedy Elementary. The weather was cold and rainy, so most of the entertainment was inside the gym which was packed with about 1200 people! The two egg hunts were still going to be outdoors. The first hunt Noah got all lined up with Ty Waldenville. The boys were anxious to hunt those colored wonders! Then we met Abby and Kynlee outside just in time. There were 10,000 eggs 'hid' on the playground. It was a free-for-all hunt, so the big kids were part of the hunt, too. Needless to say, Noah only got three eggs. He was disappointed. But he soon was excited because there would be another hunt just for his age group.
Kynlee found a sweet treat - bubblegum!

In between hunts, we waited outside since it was so packed inside. (How cute are Blakely Waldenville and Kennedy Carlson with their faces painted? I tried to get Noah to get his painted, but he wasn't having any of that.) As we waited outside, we met a little boy who is mentally and physically handicapped. Noah asked his mommy if he got any eggs. His mommy told us he only got one because the big kids took them all. Noah and I decided it was our job to help this little boy get eggs in the next hunt. Noah asked me why the boy was in a chair with wheels. I told Noah it was his magic chair that helped the little boy get around because he couldn't walk. I told Noah he was very lucky that he got to walk and run and jump because some people don't get to, but there are things like those magic chairs that help them move around. During the hunt, Noah didn't really want eggs for himself. He helped fill that little boy's basket to overflowing. It was so sweet to watch Noah help someone else and not think about what he was going to get out of it. I told him afterward that what Noah did made Jesus, Daddy and Mommy very, very proud.

Of course the Easter Bunny stopped by in the night to leave some goodies for Noah. The eggs were stocked with candies and quarters. That Bunny really knew what Noah likes because there was an encyclopedia of 142 dinosaurs and more Dinosaur Train figurines, too! Church was excellent and so was lunch at Nana and Papa's that afternoon. Our Easter season, though it rained, was well celebrated. There is victory and fun in Jesus!
